About the Event

Session 1 - March 16 (Media Training for Women)

Women’s voices are rarely seen or heard in media reports about business, cultural, scientific, and civic issues. The numbers for women of color and older women are even worse. When we do see women quoted in the news, they are more likely to talk about TV, music, and movies, than they are sharing their expertise on the economy or world affairs. We are partnering with the PR Council who is on a mission to Close the Say Gap by media training the millions of qualified women who are experts in every industry.

This 90-minute virtual training led by Double Forte President & CEO Lee Caraher will cover:

  • How the media works
  • How to position yourself as an expert to the media
  • Preparing for interviews with the “soundbites” and quotes that will get picked up by the media
  • Creating referable content the media can source for attribution
  • How to build a social media presence that drives media credibility

Session 2 - March 23 (Building Authority Through Podcast Guesting)

There are over 850,000 active podcasts worldwide and over 30 million podcast episodes, and more podcasts are in English than any other language. Only 25% of podcasts have more than 10 episodes. That’s a lot of active podcasts! And there are podcasts for everything – from politics to leadership, dog walking to women at work, investing to the life of nuns, music to TV show discussions – there are treasure troves of podcasts for virtually every topic.

In this 90-minute virtual training you will learn:

  • why podcasts are so effective at building credibility and findability
  • how to position yourself as a great podcast guest
  • creating a one sheet that will get the attention of podcast hosts
  • how to prepare for a podcast appearance
  • how to find relevant podcasts that would be a natural fit for you
  • audio equipment you should have to create the best audio quality possible
  • tools and services that can help the process
  • what to do to make the most of your podcast interview
  • how to position yourself as an expert to the media
  • preparing for interviews with the “soundbites” and quotes that will get picked up by the media
  • creating referable content the media can source for attribution
  • how to build a social media presence that drives media credibility

Participants will each receive worksheets, pro tips, and step-by-step guidelines on how to become a media resource. We will set up MasterMind groups to get into action.

Our Hosts:

  • Thomasina Williams, Sankofa Legacy Advisors
