Black Women Leaders Affinity Group -

Beyond the Seat: How Black Women Position for Board Access, Influence and Impact

Thursday, Sept. 17  ⬥  1:00 - 2:15 pm PT

This conversation is designed to go beyond the pathway to securing a board seat and focus on what truly drives effectiveness and influence in the boardroom. It centers on power, voice, and positioning—both in how Black women prepare for board opportunities and how they show up once in the room.

The discussion brings forward how Black women are positioned and perceived as governance leaders, and what it takes to be recognized as a strategic board asset, not just an accomplished operator. It also creates space for a candid dialogue on speaking with clarity and conviction in high-stakes environments, navigating boardroom dynamics, and understanding the political and relational factors that shape influence and decision-making.

We are also addressing how board opportunities are evolving in the current climate—including the role of networks, sponsorship, and visibility—and what it means to position intentionally in a landscape that is continuing to shift.
