About the Event

Registrants will receive copies of Lisen Stromberg's "WORK PAUSE THRIVE: How to Pause for Parenthood Without Killing Your Career" and  Kelley Steven-Waiss' and Edie Goldberg, Ph.D. "The Inside Gig: How Sharing Untapped Talent Across Boundaries Unleashes Organizational Capacity".

The US is facing a historical and devastating “SheCession” – an economic downturn where job and income losses are dramatically affecting women. 5.3 Million women left the workforce since the pandemic started. According to McKinsey, women in senior roles, working mothers, and women of color are most at risk

Companies are going to be in a crisis of talent; hard won equity and progress for women will be stalled. Companies are losing critical insight as they navigate unprecedented challenges. What is working? What adjustments and supports can companies make? What can we do?

How Women Lead is hosting a series of programming to elevate the problem and provide potential solutions.

Session 1 (February 17):

Let’s get into action. We are bringing together the influencers and experts and together we will create an action plan. McKinsey “Women in the Workplace” authors will give us the facts. We will dive deep into understanding the source of the problem and McKinsey’s recommendations for unraveling this plight. The California Senate’s most effective advocate for women will share what is on the books and what is possible.  And we will learn about strategies companies are implementing and exploring from C-level executives.

Session 2 (March 3):

At the highest level of corporate leadership, what role does the board play in providing solutions to curtail the mass exodus of women in the workplace? Hear from HR leaders and board directors on the questions boards should be asking of the C-suite and decision making strategies for retaining female talent.

Session 3 (March 17):  Innovators in the Future of Work for Women

What works? What process, behavior, or technology tools can we scale to get jobs in front of the right people? What tools are helping working mothers and caregivers?  Learn what organizational development strategies and HR options are having the most impact from leaders across industries.

Session 4 (March 31):

For the final session of the series, we will explore solutions and actions industry leaders can take to turn the tide. The California Senate’s most effective advocate for women will share what is on the books and what is possible. Learn the legislative levers we can press on to see more solutions for child and elder care.
