Join us for a conversation with author Dr. Ellen Snee on her book, Lead: How Women in Charge Claim Their Authority on Thursday, 10/14 at 12:00 - 1:30 pm PDT. A book explicitly for women, Lead, draws on Dr. Snee's Harvard research on women's leadership development, coaching and consulting work in F500 companies, executive experience in Silicon Valley, and earlier life as a Catholic nun.

Ellen Snee has worked at the forefront of women’s leadership development for more than twenty-five years. As an academic, she examined the experience of women in roles of authority in her doctoral dissertation. In 2009, Ellen joined VMware as VP Leadership Development and later launched their VMwomen business initiative. In 2015, she returned to the work she loves most: accelerating the career advancement of talented women through executive coaching and career counseling.
Ellen will be first interviewed by the award-winning leader and passionate feminist Sonya Pelia and will then join leaders Yasi Baiani, Laura Heisman, and Deepa Purushothaman on a panel on women, power, and authority.
Panelists:
- Yasi Baiani is the VP of Product at Cleo, the leading family benefit provider company. She is a mission-driven technologist, product leader, entrepreneur, and investor. Yasi is also Co-Founder and Chief of Product at Raya, where she advises CEOs and founders. as well as product and design teams about strategy, product-market-fit, and establishing high-performing product organization.
- Laura Heisman is GitHub’s Vice President of Communications & Corporate Marketing, where she leads a global team that builds GitHub’s brand awareness and company storylines to showcase the platform, community, and new developer opportunities.
- Deepa Purushothaman is the author of The First, The Few, The Only: How Women of Color Redefine Power in Corporate America which will be published by Harper Business in March 2022. She is also the co-founder of nFormation which provides brave, safe, new space for professional women of color and she is a Women and Public Policy Program Leader in Practice at the Harvard Kennedy School. Deepa speaks extensively on women and leadership.
- Moderator: Sonya Pelia is a B2B SaaS CMO with expertise in driving revenue, product led growth, marketing strategy, brand, and thought leadership. She is Co-Founder & COO of Monarch Mavens, a startup consulting firm propeling founding teams of early stage B2B SaaS startups to rev-up revenue, while reducing risk and raising resilience. She is a founding LP at How Women Invest VC Fund, nonprofit leader, and TEDx Speaker. Sonya mentors founders at Tech for Good Alley and Alchemist Accelerator, and is Advisor to startups OneTap and Doctors Under the Radar.
